On the main stage of the Indonesia International Book Fair, we joined Quran Cordoba to launch the English edition of the medical-themed mushaf that has already reached more than 200,000 readers in Indonesian.
On Wednesday 30 September 2026, Sidr Productions and our partners Quran Cordoba launched Al-Quran Medic (English Edition) on the main stage of the Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF) 2026 at the Jakarta Convention Center. The launch was presented through a talk show titled Unveiling Medical Insight in the Holy Quran, part of a fair supported by Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture, LPDP and IKAPI.
Our co-founder Dr Nousheen Zakaria took part in the signing ceremony with Quran Cordoba’s President Director, Usman El-Qurtuby. The launch certificate carries both organisations’ names and three signatures: Quran Cordoba’s President Director, the founder of Sidr Productions, and the book’s medical author. The collaboration is a key part of taking Quran Medic to readers outside Indonesia.
Quran Medic, presented at the launch as the world’s first medical-based Quran, pairs the text of the Qur’an with insights on health, the human body, healing and the guidance the Qur’an offers for a good life. The Indonesian edition has already reached more than 200,000 copies. The English edition opens that work to readers in other countries, and it is one more step in Quran Cordoba’s mission to share Indonesia’s thematic mushaf with the world.
Ustaz Andi Subarkah, Lc., Quran Cordoba’s Director of Al-Qur’an and Islamic Books, described how long the journey has been. Work began before the pandemic. By 2022 the content was close to final, but the medical material still needed review and consultation with specialists and doctors. That led Quran Cordoba to Dr dr Agus Rahmadi, a medical practitioner and author, who helped build the content on references from health journals. The work was finally completed in 2025, shaped all along by feedback and criticism from readers.
Ustaz Andi’s hope is that Quran Medic will be more than something to read. He wants it to change habits: keeping clean, not littering, looking after our health and living better. After English, he said, a French edition is now in development.
Dr Agus argued that if the mushaf is to benefit people on a large scale, it has to speak an international language. He stressed reading the Qur’an with reflection, including on the subject of health that is his own speciality. The Qur’an, he said, is not only to be read but to be understood and put into practice, and studying it alongside other disciplines, medicine among them, shows how wide its guidance is. Health is a universal need: everyone wants a healthy body and a good quality of life.
For Dr Nousheen, what makes Quran Medic unique is the knowledge it brings together: the insight of the Qur’an alongside medicine and health. That is exactly why it needs to be translated into many languages, and quickly. The wider the access in different languages, the more people in more countries can learn from it and benefit, well beyond those who work in health.
It is the same reason we built My Quran Journey in fifteen languages, and the thinking behind our wider work with Quran Cordoba. Two weeks later, at ISEF 2026, that partnership launched the Quran Cordoba and Quran Cordoba Pro apps, which are designed to take the publisher’s thematic mushaf to Muslims everywhere.
Our thanks to Quran Cordoba, Ustaz Andi Subarkah and Dr Agus Rahmadi, and to the IIBF organisers. Quran Cordoba’s own report of the launch, in Bahasa Indonesia, is on their website.
