On the Bank Indonesia stage at the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival, our partners Quran Cordoba took their thematic mushaf into the digital world, starting in English and Indonesian, with fifteen languages planned within a year.
On Friday 16 October 2026, Sidr Productions and Quran Cordoba, one of Indonesia’s leading Qur’an publishers, launched two digital apps together: Quran Cordoba and Quran Cordoba Pro. The launch took place at the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) 2026, on the Lentera Emas stage in Cendrawasih Hall at the Jakarta International Convention Center, at an event supported by Bank Indonesia. Quran Cordoba was the only Qur’an publisher at the festival.
The apps are the result of our strategic collaboration with Quran Cordoba, and the launch was the moment the work went into people’s hands. The event carried the theme Al-Qur’an di Genggaman: Transformasi Digital Ekosistem Baca dan Tadabbur Al-Qur’an: the Qur’an in the palm of your hand, and the digital transformation of how people read and reflect on it.
Quran Cordoba’s President Director, Usman El-Qurtuby, was clear that going digital is not a move away from the printed mushaf but a way of extending what it can do. Quran Cordoba has built its name on thematic editions of the Qur’an, each answering a specific need: tajwid, memorisation, Quran Medic, business and trade, and a Braille mushaf among them. In an app, that body of work is no longer limited by how far printed copies can travel, and reading becomes more personal and better suited to the way people already live with their phones.
The launch was followed by a talk show hosted by Ranty Purnamasari, with three speakers: Usman El-Qurtuby; Ilham Taufik, founder of Evermos; and our co-founder Dr Nousheen Zakaria. Ilham drew a line between two ideas that are often confused. Creativity, he said, is thinking of new things; innovation is actually doing them. That is the step these apps represent for Quran Cordoba, from years of research into thematic mushaf to a product people can use today.
Dr Nousheen spoke to the international side of the partnership. Qur’an platforms reach around 90 million users worldwide each year, she said, and the majority of them are in Indonesia, where she counted 77 million active users. But the advantage, in her view, does not come from features alone. It comes from depth of content and how closely it speaks to real life.
She described how struck she was when she first saw the range of Quran Cordoba’s thematic editions. Research grounded in the contexts of daily life, from health and business to parenting and everyday needs, is rare, and valuable far beyond Indonesia. The next challenge, she said, is to bring that richness of Indonesian thematic mushaf to the wider Muslim world. That is where our work comes in: content that has lived in print can now reach Muslims anywhere through Quran Cordoba Pro.
“The app is made for every reader. It will first be released in English and Indonesian. Our goal over the next year is to make it available in 15 languages, including Turkish, Urdu, Malay, Malayalam, Tamil, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese, inshaallah.”
— Dr Nousheen Zakaria, co-founder, Sidr Productions
Quran Cordoba sees the apps as a starting point rather than a finish line. Technology is the means; spreading the message of the Qur’an stays at the centre. The two apps are designed to connect three generations at once: those who grew up with the printed mushaf, those who live on screens, and the generation that will inherit both. In the spirit of Quran Cordoba’s own motto, Inspiring People to Love and Live with Quran, the aim is a Qur’an that is read, understood and lived.
It is the same conviction behind our own My Quran Journey: the Qur’an should be understood, not only recited, and it should reach people in their own language. Our partnership with Quran Cordoba began with a shared commitment to inspire a global generation to love the Qur’an. Two weeks before ISEF, it brought the English edition of Al-Quran Medic to the Indonesia International Book Fair.
Our thanks to Quran Cordoba, Bank Indonesia and the ISEF organisers, Ilham Taufik, and everyone who joined us at JICC. Quran Cordoba’s own report of the launch, in Bahasa Indonesia, is on their website.
